A few days ago, on the shortest day of the year, this amazing Balenciaga bag came in! It immediately gave me a little bit of summer feelings I was craving for. Last summer I was searching for this bag, but I was only able to track down the regular hardware version, while I wanted the giant silver hardware. So I was very pleased when I found this one, almost new, at a great price. As you see lately I tend to wear only a small part of my bag collection and I am planning on some updating. I will get rid of the bag I don't use enough and will focus on finding bags that now miss in my collection.

Yesterday, I had a big shopping spree and you can see 2 of them in this outfit: The Rika army blouse and the gold Michael Kors watch. Rika has 50% off already, so it was really crazy in this small, but amazing boutique. I immediatly fell in love with this blouse, because of the amazing star detail on the shoulders (stars are Rika's signature symbols, next to skulls and panther prints)

I like the fact I can wear it as a jacket or closed up as a normal blouse. I also bought something else there, which I will show very soon!

Home: Christmas tree + sitting area improvements!

OK, watch out! Major picture overload! Almost the only thing I like about winter is putting up a christmas tree. I just love to put it overly full with as much bling, feathers, lights and flowers as possible. This year I really wanted small white blossom-ish flowers in it and (miracles come true) I was able to find them. After that, I just went on with the spring theme by adding birds and feathers and when I saw all this white I thought pearls would be cool too! I love the result.

I also managed to find the perfect table and carpet for the sitting area. I was looking for a carpet in the colour of the cushion on the white vitra chair and this colour is a exact match. The table was in my head like this, I even made a drawing and was very happy to find out it actually existed. Now the last hunt will be finding the perfect couch, I have it all in my head, so the search is on! I am so happy with my home right now, every evening I can't wait to light up the candles and crawl under my furry blanket with my boyfriend and a glass of whine!

During winter it is definitely more challenging to make pictures. Most of the times I leave home when it's dark and I come back when it's dark. And the rare moment that's not the case, my boyfriend isn't there to make pictures. So today I made some with my timer. Not as nice a s street style pics, but at least it's something.

As you can see, my Isabel Marant Aztec / Navajo pants came in and I couldn't be more happy, I luckily choose the right size (as almost all sizes are already sold out) and besides being extremely cool they are really comfy too. I combined them very simple with my boyfriend pull. Can't wait for spring already and wear it with a flowy white blouse!

So when I saw these Navajo cord pants on mytheresa, I decided to take the plunge. They are not cheap, but a lot cheaper and I don't think these will last until the sale starts. Now, I really hope my hips can handle these extreme pants, If not, I really have to return them....sigh....just love the Aztec print...

I had a big shortage in pants, especially skinny's as I don't fit any of them anymore, only one from 5 years ago, So I was really in need of more of them. So, when I saw these jeans at the Zara (TRF collection) and discovered they fit me perfectly (even in length!) I decided to solve my problem and buy all the colours I like. Especially because they were only 25 euro's! This buy will save me a lot of frustration with working with belts to keep my pants on my butt, hehe.

Another Sunday another part of my jacket collection...

Today, I photographed two of the show-stoppers from the SS 2011 collection. Both are made with a very special vintage looking paisly-print fabrick. But the best part about both these jackets is the beading.... just breathtaking. The only thing you should be really carefull with is the sizing. The Jordan fits extremely small, take 1-2 sizes up and for the Reilly, take your own size if you want it to be tight or 1 size up. In this fabric there also exist a read beaded Jordan, a Reilly with dark arms and light body and a exclusive for Net-a-porter jacket, the July jacket, which I have sold, but you can see it here.

What if you put 2 things Isabel Marant is famous for together? knitwear + jackets = LOVE!

Very warm and comfy, but also very chic and special. Because it's a mixture of different colours, it's very easy to combine. I am still dreaming about owning a Fuchsia or Burgundy/Maroon colored one, but they are very, very hard to find!

And does anybody know the name of the red jacket, if so I would love to know!

I am so happy with my new lamp from Modular. I have admired those lamps a few years back during my student-job and decided I wanted the same lamp in my first own house. So after a long time searching I found a nice secondhand for a good price. Sorry for the pics, I just snapped them when I came home from my job and it was kinda getting dark already. Sometimes I feel almost guilty for posting another outfit wearing a Isabel Marant jacket + simple top + skinny + ankle boots, but honestly, that's what I am wearing 90 % of the time and I feel myself at my best when wearing it. This Sunday I add my Vally jackets to the Isabel Marant jacket collection. These jackets from FW 2010 flew out of the stores. No wonder the material is felt-like with a stretch, so when you are wearing these jackets, it feels like you are wearing a comfy hoody, also because of the kangaroo-pockets in the front. I love that this jackets is made out of many pannels, which prevent is from being boring. The only problem is those jackets are very hard size wise: both jackets are a size 2, but my beige jacket looks definitely more like a size 1. I hope I can track down the dark grey one, because I wear this jackets so much, I can definetly use one more!

I really anticipated towards this SS 2012-show. The weird thing is, when I see a show from Isabel Marant I don't go crazy, I look at it and think "nice, but I liked last time more" then I look again and again and I see details, I see shapes and suddenly I start to like it more and more.

The colours are very marine-ish, a lot of red white and blue, also some faded colours, tie dye and damaged effects, which give it a very cool and edgy look, like Balmain also does.

She has put some classic elements in her collection like her famous knitwear, a trophy jacket and printed pants. Also she really played with shapes, like this amazing vest above with pointy shoulders and some amazing embellishment (I want this in my closet!!!!!), would love to see that one IRL and I wonder if there will be a long sleeved version too. Some shapes and prints kinda looked like the Celine collection, which I liked, but it was a little bit too much for everyday wear, but Isabel Marant translated this look in a wearable version. We can also see that next summer thin strappy sandals will be the trend. The only thing I really didn't like where the baseball shirts and the patched jeans. I get a lot of questions from people about my Isabel Marant jacket collection. How many jackets do I have and if I could make pictures from my collection. So I decided for the coming weeks to do a new sunday item: Isabel Marant jacket collection.

I start off with the jacket that started everything: the blue Flana jacket. When I saw this jacket on net-a-porter in 2010 I totally fell in love, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I stalked ebay for months and months, one time I lost an auction the last 3 seconds. So when I saw this jacket on a buy-it-now ad on ebay I danced around the room because I was so happy! Later, I also got the chance to buy the light colored one and although it was a little bit crazy I decided to take the plunge and I am happy about it.

I read in a interview with Isabel Marant her inspiration for this jacket was Captain Hooks embellished jacket, so that probably also explains the ropes. Anyway here are some pics that show the amazing details even better!

Today really felt like saying goodbye to summer, the first leaves were falling, but the weather was amazing! I even was able to remove my tights in the afternoon! After a extremely busy week (2 assistants who were ill and one on holiday) I definitely needed a easy saturday to load the batteries. So I woke up late, visited my grandfathers grave, my parents and grandmother. My battery is loaded again!

I was also finally able to shoot my new bordeaux Lexy jacket from Isabel Marant, which I've worn many times because it is super comfy, but never had a chance to shoot it. I also rediscovered this very old dress (about 4 years old) which matches great with bordeaux. It was one of my very few expensive clothes back then and it proofs that it was a good investment, I still love it! If you look from a distance you think this dress has a flower print, but up close, you can see they are horses. I just love small jokes or surprises in clothes!

And as I told before: animal + design = love!

Everybody who reads this blog knows I am crazy about the Aztec/Ikat prints. They were always kinda rare to find, so I am very happy with my Zara coat, Sandro top and Asos poncho. But this season the Aztec-trend has exploded and I see big fashionhouses like Isabel Marant and Balmain picking up this amazing print. And that often means that other designers will pick up the trend and there will be a lot Aztec print available, yaay!

I especially love the Aztec prints from All Saints and Antik Batik (maybe.... if it hits the sale...)!

Sometimes, I post a part of my house and this time it's my favorite part: the garden. This garden was actually the reason why we decided to buy this house. It is the perfect size for a city garden, sunny all day and perfect for my 2 bunny's. You won't be surprised it is their favorite place too! When I let them out in the morning, the first thing they do is run to the garden door and wait in front of it to go out, so cute! I also love this place because we did everything by ourselves, the design, placing the tiles (which were extremly heavy!!!)and planting the plants and figure out how to treat them. You can see how we started HERE. I can't wait until next year when all the plants have grown more. This weekend I even planted a tree in the back of the garden, so I can't wait till it gets bigger! It truly is our second livingroom and I will definetly miss spending my time here during winter.

I already posted about Missoni clothes quite often. But I also love their home collection. It all started when I bought Rachel Zoe's "Style from A t Zoe" book in 2005. Back then I lived in a very crappy, but great appartment in the centre of Amsterdam and decided if I ever found my dream home, I really wanted to have some missoni home items there. As I mentioned here, I told you I was thinking about buying Bordeaux pants for this fall. I already knew the perfect ones from Isabel Marant, but the price... 1740 euro... ouch! The second day in Paris we went for a tourist day. Inspired by all the amazing French ladys a wore a very simple outfit. We started a morning walk in the park overlooking the Eiffel tower. After that we went to Laduree for a Macaroon breakfast (my favourite is Rose Petal... yum) and taking soem home for my family. Then we strolled along the Champs Elysee and had a wonderful lunch at the Avenue restaurant. So here are the items you saw me carry in the shopping bag from my previouw post.

First, I bought a Louis Vuitton Denim scarf, I love my other LV scarf and I really wanted a dark blue one, after a lot of consideration I decided to go for my first choice, the denim version, a little bit more busy because the colours vary, but because of that more different from my beige one.

My second and third purchase were both from the Isabel Marant store. I wanted the Bordeaux Lexy jacket since I first saw it, but my size was nowhere available (or for exceptionally higher prizes) Luckily I waited and was able to buy this one at the store. They also had the grey one, but somehow it didn't work for me. And my third item is this burn-out T-shirt as I loved my burgundy burn out top so much (and I really need more "special" tops)

This weekend we decided to go to Paris, we booked a cheap last-minute hotel and jumped in the car towards Paris. Off course, I did some major shopping (They had the Isabel Marant Lexy jacket in every colour available in my size!!) and admired all the beautiful women walking by while sipping some white wine (OMG I was constantly pointing out women who looked amazing and my boyfriend started to doubt if I really liked men) We went to centre Pompidou, first to watch amazing contemporary art, second to watch the amazing view over Paris and third to enjoy a wonderful dinner while watching sunset at Georges (which is at the top floor of the centre Pompidou) And my boyfriend even posed for a picture, which is very rare.

Last weekend, I went shopping in my old neighborhood, which is near the "9 straatjes" So I went to my favorite shops there: Rika, Acne and Sky. I came home with 2 of my favorite brands: Rika and Isabel Marant.

Above is the amazing Rika dress, I loved her entire FW-collection and I always have a special feeling for this brand, because about 6 years ago, when I bought my first item there, the designer, Ulrika Lundgren, was in the shop and sold it to me. Her favourite things are stars, skulls and panther-prints in many different colors and great graphic prints. This collection had really nice prints and I fell in love with this one, they also had a great jacket (in the same colours as the dress) like THIS one, but so far I am happy with my blue version.

I also bought this amazing burn-out top from Etoile Isabel Marant in my favourite colour this fall: Burgundy. I already have a burn-out top in plum for a long time from Modstrom and was searching everywhere for different colours, so thank you madame Marant!

The Reilly/ July (they call them both names) jacket from Isabel Marant was my favourite item from the SS2011 collection, but the price tag and the fact I already owned many special jackets kept me from buying it. So when the sale started I was again in doubt whether I should go after this jacket. I decided to do so and ended up buying my second choice, the NAP july jacket. But that one made me realise even more that second best even wasn't enough. As if it was faith I ended up finding this beauty quite soon and with 20 % off, so my patience is rewarded!

Today, my boyfriend and I are together for 10 years! Very special, considering we are both only 27, but to us it just came naturally. I have a weak spot for Aztec-prints and I was very happy to see Balmain does a lot of those prints coming season, so other fashion houses wil probably follow this trend. I already have my Zara Aztec winter coat ready in my closet! ( I saw one on ebay!)

Ok, this is a luxury-Dilemma. My first love was the turquoise July jacket, but in a impulse I bought the July jacket from net-a-porter. But I still could not get the original July jacket out of my head.... especially because this one has the same neckline detail as the Flana jackets. So now I am thinking about selling this one and keep the money apart to purchase the original one. The only problem is that I don't know if it will be up for sale in the future and now I tried the jacket with some of my clothes I come to the conclusion I can wear it in so many ways! Well, at least some eye-candy for all of you and what do you think, keep it or sell it?

One of our favourite spots in our house is the kitchen. When we were looking for our house the possebility of a island counter was high on our wish-list! My boyfriend and I just love cooking. When I designed the kitchen it was very imporant that during cooking you could have contact with the rest of the house, a lot of workspace and easy to work and clean. I wanted it to look professional, but it should blend in with the living room, so no cluttery appliances on the working area. I thought about which steps you had during cooking and placed everything so you can easily acces everything. I also put as many drawers as possible in it, even behind doors are drawers, because they make everything more organised. We now use it for almost a year and the kitchen works exactly the way I hoped it did. When we have guest everybody tends to hang around the kitchen, which makes it even nicer to cook for friends!

I already told you I got a little bit crazy during the Missoni sale on the Outnet. I especially had doubts about this wrap top as it was not presented very well online (see here), but because I loved the colours I wanted to give it a try. New Summer buy: Missoni dress

The tropical weather has started here, and isn't there a better way to celebrate that than with a missoni dress? I have always dreamed about a missoni dress, but I never found one that had a classic print and shape, degrading colour effect or the right price. So I stuck to my more budget-friendly missoni zig-zag scarfs. And then I found this amazing flame print dress on ebay which answered all my requirements! I always get a kind of adrenaline rush when I find something I am looking for such a long time!

Just a few days before the missoni sale on the outnet, but I decided the chances were small I would find another perfect missoni dress there (little did I know...) So soon I will have a lot of missoni garments and I love it, the perfect knitting, the great colours..... I really needed some WOW-factor summer clothes. Can't wait for my other Missoni treats to arrive!

5 piece french wardrobe: in retrospective

It is always good to look back at things you did well or in which things you failed.

Looking back at the past three months I am very happy with my five special purchases and I have also found some amazing basics!

First here is the list I made in March + what I bought:

1: embellished sandals ---> bought some from Supertrash, exactly what I was looking for except for the quality, the embellishment is already a bit loose.

2: multicoloured skirt ---> after a long search I finally found the Isabel Marant skirt I wanted for such a long time, it's pure perfection!

3: breathtaking party dress ---> can I say more about this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress?

4: colourfull tank top ---> This Helmut Lang top has only one color but is definitely an eye-catcher! The soft is feathery thin, but feels so luxurious!

5: ?? ---> my Zara pink pants already stretched too much after a few times of wear and are too wide now, I will probably turn them into hotpants, as I like hotpants to be a little bit oversized.

And the Patrizia Pepe jacket is just amazing, wore it three times in one week, it is special, but not too flashy for everyday use!

I can say that everything I was looking for was found, my only small regrets is that the quality of my pants and sandals are not amazing, so they probably won't last very long.

I also bought one thing too much, because I just could not let that amazing Patrizia Pepe jacket pass when it was on sale with 50 % discount... But I made up and sold 2 Isabel Marant jackets, yes I made up big time!

For the summer my wishlist is simple:

Colours, prints and lots of Missoni. And for the basics the perfect black skinny jeans and a light beige Blazer. There are already some amazing items on my way and I am afraid I wont make it with 5 pieces...

I really need more tops with nice prints. This one always makes me think about the military camouflage print or some abstract leopard spots. Prints make a outfit often more interesting, but I always feel very picky about prints.

I love the designs from Charles and Ray Eames and these plastic chairs are high on my wishlist. Not only do they add class to every modern or even more classic interior, they are, especially for designer chairs very affordable.

Today I wear a budget-friendly look. The only expensive/designer item I wear is my Misssoni scarf, and it upgrades and connects everything else.

The pants and shoes are both only 20 euro, the top is 15 euro, the purse was 60 euro and the jacket was 139 euro, which to me for a leather jacket is a good price! And the Missoni scarf was on sale (80 euro) so even that item isn't really expensive if you forget it's only a scarf...

I feel very honoured Volkskrant interviewed me about the 5 piece french wardrobe. As it has been a good help for me to improve my wardrobe, I really loved the subject! You can read the entire piece here (it's in the Dutch language)

In the pictures they show us in a completely neutral outfit and our 5 special pieces in the trees. It was a very funny experience to pose in the middle of the Sarphatipark (park in Amsterdam) with people staring at and even the police stopped by to ask what was happening. Also children were asking if we were selling clothes, hell no! hehe..

When I saw this bunny (ok it's actually a hare, but who cares?) doormat I just couldn't keep it out of my head. Design + animals, especially bunny's are just my soft spot. It is from Droog design, a Dutch designing company who just designs the most beautiful and funny pieces.

Also high on my list is this shadylace parasol, I just love that bird on top and can imagine myself underneath it with the light coming through the leaf pattern. And this swing would instantly make me feel like a disney-princess, sadly we don't have a suitable tree!

And every time I make pics I can't keep myself from making some bunny pictures, they are so funny and cute when they are curious!

I think Pien and Puk agree with ee this is a pretty cool doormat!

Today I finally wore two of my trouble-items: The LV Speedy and my zara brown leather short.

The problem with the speedy was that six years ago almost nobody was wearing a speedy and I thought of it as a nice classic piece, but a few years ago you saw so many girls here in Amsterdam wearing them I almost began to feel uncomfortable with it. I also have trouble with very visible logo's and a outfit has to be very minimal to wear something that shouts a brand so loud. but colour-wise it matches great with the shorts!

The problem with the shorts is that brown often makes very mature and oldfashioned. But I think I solved that problem with my grey blazer, you don't see those colours often together, but I like it.

I finally made some time to make pictures of my house again, and this time the dining area. As you can see I am very consistent with the grey colours.
This table-area is in the lightest, most active part of the house. During the day we work on it (often our computer stands here), during the evenings we have dinner together and in the weekends we are able to let 8 people sit around this big table. And Puk was so nice to pose at a few pictures, he is way too curious!!!
I am also very happy with my Herman Brood print, it gives some colour and makes this area look fresh and young!

Today, on a very sunny day, I wear my Fluro bag again and thanks to the sun it's even more bright than it already is. I combined it my favourite way: with nudes. In the future I am thinking about combining it with grey's and black and white. Do you girls have any other suggestions?

One of the most perfect basic in your wardrobe is a Chanel jacket, it is perfectly made, you can wear it when you are 20 or 80 years old and it gives style to every look. As most of you know I was dreaming about owning a Chanel jacket one day and that day came earlier than expected: Sometimes I make "treasure hunts" on ebay, I search for designer things for nice prizes, I was lucky nobody else found it, I was the only bidder. After a long wait my fluro item came in. I already told here, I ordered something fluro, so here it is: the Campbridge Fluro Bag!!! I can't wait to wear it more often, I imagined so many looks already, especially with nudes! I also like how I can tuck in the strap and wear it as a clutch. It makes me think about the Proenza Schouler PS 1 clutch!

I love it when it is warm, but often I feel like I can't make my outfit "special" with a nice layer (cardigan/blazer/jacket) or scarf. This necklace is a great solution and gives that little extra I needed yesterday. I really liked how the pink and fluro-orange worked together. Nothing better than a sunny day on the beach with the dogs!

Home: Perfect summer nights

After a long long search for a garden in Amsterdam, we found one, one year ago. Back then it was a pile of earth and rubbish and we did everything ourselves, including laying the stones. After a year we still want a lot more green, but are very happy with the result...and the bunny's too! During summer this is definetly our second livingroom with a couch and outdoor kitchen. But why limit a fireplace only for inside? This fireplace gives us definetly a lot more outdoor time and romantic evenings, thanks to our sweet friends, who gave this for our birthday!

These days, Amsterdam feels like summer, a good day to show how nice the channels are here.
